D9 Artsy Office, Vilnius, Lithuania

D9 Artsy Office, located in the heart of Vilnius, hosts the Noewe Foundation’s striking contemporary art collection. This award-winning, innovative concept fuses creative works with office spaces, redefining the relationship between art and functionality.

Originally built in 1880 as a single-story residence, the property at A. Domaševičiaus Street 9 has undergone a series of transformations. It gained a second floor during its time as a maternity clinic and later served as a residence, museum, archive, library, and courthouse. In 1994, following Lithuania’s independence, architect Leonardas Vaitys reimagined the building with the addition of a striking trapezoidal modern wing. Acquired in 2022 by D9, the property now exemplifies a hybrid office-gallery concept where workspaces and exhibition areas coexist in perfect harmony. Showcased within is an impressive collection of contemporary art from the private holdings of the Noewe Foundation. The office spaces, which also serve as the headquarters of NOEWE — one of the leading service providers in the Lithuanian market — impress with their versatile interior, characterized by striking pieces from Walter Knoll.

The D9 Artsy Office captivates not only through the breadth of the Noewe Foundation collection but also through the dialogue between architectural eras and design philosophies. At the center of the modern wing lies a light-filled atrium that evokes a sense of openness and clarity. Surrounding this space, over 1,600 square meters accommodate adaptable workspaces, including offices, meeting rooms, lounges, and a refined foyer. Walter Knoll’s furnishings, including the Foster 502 and Fabricius collections, bring understated elegance through their precise craftsmanship, pairing black leather with chrome steel to create bold yet harmonious accents.

Preserving the original building’s historical and architectural character was paramount. Layers of polychromatic paint and plasterwork were carefully uncovered, allowing authentic details to coexist with contemporary art and design. Iconic pieces, such as the FK Chair, integrate seamlessly into this environment, bridging history and modernity in a setting both atmospheric and timeless.

The Lithuanian NOEWE group, headquartered at D9 Artsy Office, not only leads in professional services but also manages the Noewe Foundation, demonstrating a deep commitment to fostering art and culture.
Founded in 2013 by philanthropist and collector Vilius Kavaliauskas and his wife Rita Kavaliauskienė, the Noewe Foundation is dedicated to making its growing collection of over 1,500 works by more than 300 artists accessible to the public. The collection spans diverse media, including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, video art, installations, and documented performances. Together, these works trace a timeline from 20th-century Lithuanian modernism to contemporary Lithuanian and international art.
A shared commitment to craftsmanship, materiality, and design heritage led D9 to partner with Walter Knoll. The brand’s enduring legacy in European design complements the foundation’s vision, ensuring a seamless integration of form and function within the Artsy Office.
